District hamirpur was founded by Raja Hamir Chand Katoch. Hamirpur fort was made up in 1743.

जिला हमीरपुर की स्थापना राजा हमीर चंद कटोची ने की थी। हमीरपुर किला 1743 में बनाया गया था।

According to history-Hamirpur is a part of Kangra. In hamirpur there are two rivers “Ravi, Satluj”

इतिहास के अनुसार- हमीरपुर कांगड़ा का हिस्सा है। हमीरपुर में दो नदियाँ हैं "रावी, सतलुज"

Hamirpur was mostly developed during the time of Raja Sansar Chand-II.

In 1980 three more tehsil created Tihra Sujanpur, Nadaun, and Bhoranj.  In the 1991 census, Nadaun and Bhoranj were elevated to full tehsils.

1980 में तीन और तहसीलों ने तिहरा सुजानपुर, नादौन और भोरंज का निर्माण किया। 1991 की जनगणना में, नादौन और भोरंज को पूर्ण तहसीलों तक बढ़ा दिया गया था।

 

Hamirpur people live in rural areas and do farming. They grow wheat, rice, maize, Gram, Paddy. Wheat, Rice, and Maize Roties with Lassi and Sarson Ka Sag are popular. Curry is another favourite food of theirs.

There are two forts in Hamirpur district- Mahal Morian (Hamirpur) Fort and Sujanpur Fort.

Mahal Moriyan fort is situated in tehsil Bhoranj.

In Mahal Morian, there were two wars. The army of King Sansar Chand defeated the Gurkhas the first time; however, the king lost his realm in the second battle.

महल मोरियन में दो युद्ध हुए। राजा संसार चंद की सेना ने पहली बार गोरखाओं को हराया; हालाँकि, राजा ने दूसरी लड़ाई में अपना राज्य खो दिया।

Mahal Morian Fort is now damaged. There are some pictures of this fort. and Sujanpur  fort is not good condition. Sujanpur fort is best place to visit in Hamirpur. You can see whole Sujanpur city from this fort.
